TANZANIA: TEC Secretariat to be moved to Dodoma

Tanzania Episcopal Conference has announced the plans to move its Secretariat from the current location in Kurasini –Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.

This was announced by the TEC Vice President, Most Rev. Beatus Kinyaiya, who is also the Archbishop of Dodoma, during the grand centenary celebration of Priesthood held in Dodoma on 15th, August, 2017. “Currently, we are in the process of negotiating with the government over land for the new TEC secretariat,” said Archbishop Kinyaiya.

In an interview, Most Rev Protace Rugambwa, the President of the Pontifical Mission Society (PMS) in Rome, was the main celebrant during the occasion to bless the foundation stone of the Chapel for the new secretariat office to be built once the land is acquired.

Speaking during the same occasion on behalf of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania His Excellency John Pombe Magufuli, the Minister of State in the President’s Office responsible for Regional Administration, Local Government, Civil Service and Good Governance, Honorable George Simbachawene issued an order to the Dodoma Regional Government to make sure that within ten days TEC gets the required land.

Simbachawene thanked the Catholic Bishops for supporting the idea of the Tanzanian President Magufuli to move the country’s headquarter to Dodoma by first making all the ministries move to Dodoma before the end of his tenure.
